Ashbury Sylvia Haight

Ash Haight is a Maryland-born writer and teacher who’s lived in Cullowhee for almost seven years. She got her bachelor’s degrees in English and Philosophy at WCU, and stuck around to get her MA in English here as well. Her writing tends to focus on familial struggles, Appalachian Maryland, and the trans and queer experience. When not writing or grading, she enjoys cooking, reading, and watching Stargate SG-1.
Hope Kjar

Hope Kjar was raised in South Georgia and currently lives in Asheville, NC. She received her BA in Rhetorical Studies at Georgia College & State University and is pursuing her MA in English Studies at WCU, with a concentration in Literature. Hopes interests outside of scholarship include reading fantasy novels and baking for friends.
Sara Yager Lloyd

Sara Yager Lloyd is a creative writer rediscovering her voice after two decades of exploring life’s many chapters. Now pursuing her master’s at WCU, she brings grittiness and a lot of living to the page. Sara has called North Carolina home for the past eight years, where she does life with her favorite human, four kids, two dogs, one cat, and a fish. She finds joy in gardening, grounding herself in the earth, and dreaming of one day becoming a wild mountain witch surrounded by cats and jars of mysterious things.
Katherine Nagy

Katherine Nagy is an English Literature graduate student and president of the English Graduate Student Organization with research interests in folklore, film studies, and the gothic. She is currently working on research surrounding female sexuality within vampiric media, spurred from an instant obsession with Robert Eggers’ 2024 Nosferatu. When not engaging with the academic world, she can be found most often at home with her cats and fiancé, in Charleston visiting her grandparents, planning her next Disney World/Universal Orlando trip, reading, or watching Nosferatu. Jacob Love

Jacob Love is originally from Soddy-Daisy, Tennessee, and attended Bryan College before transferring to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, where he earned a BA in English: Literary Studies. He is currently in his second year of the MA in English Studies program at WCU, and is concentrating in Creative Writing, with his interests including fiction and nonfiction writing that deals with pop culture and spirituality. He now lives in Cullowhee, North Carolina, and is probably listening to the seventh studio album by Tyler Childers, Snipe Hunter.
Emily Naser-Hall

Emily Naser-Hall is an Assistant Professor of Film and Media Studies and Graduate Program Director in the Department of English Studies at Western Carolina University. She holds a Ph.D from the University of Kentucky, an MA from Northwestern University, an LL.M. from Georgetown University, and a Juris Doctor from DePaul University. Her research focuses on post-1945 American literature and film, cultural narratives, and the intersection of law and literature.
