grass saturated in dew,
woken by the warming early day rise.
the horizon lay reminiscent under guise,
shrouded under a thick haze
of coolness settling in the open valley.
the surrounding presence is easily forgotten,
especially when one’s two feet
cannot be seen before them.
at once, light rises above
the grey cloaked clouds of transitioning day,
rediscovering the encompassing world.
rolling hills, crowded with natural life,
song sparrows belting symphonies,
an expansive landscape,
unscathed by the idiosyncrasies of busy life.
life beyond the unknown is
an abstract destination,
where there is never guarantee
for what awaits in the distance,
but when the fog lifts
I know why I am here.
